My dear yogis. I hope you have all had a wonderful summer although that is rather a lot to expect of the universe is it not? I guess it's a platitude but let's examine what we mean by "wonderful". Do we mean that we have lived in non-stop amazement at the beauty and joy presented in our lives for six uninterrupted weeks of bliss? And that's assuming you live by a school calendar of course.
I don't think so.
But have we found moments of wonder, moments of tranquility amidst the frenzy, moments of contentment and moments of expansion since we last met?
To be full of "wonder" is to be full of curiosity/awe/amazement: at the very least it suggests we are interested in something or everything around us, it's an invitation to be aware of the things that bring us wonder in life. And let's not forget that where the light of wonder shines, that light can only be seen in contrast to some darkness. Negative experiences ranging from boredom to despair are our teachers. Allow the light to shine through and keep your eyes open yogis; there is always something wonderful outside and in. Served with a side order of grated parmesan but it's so true I don't care if it's cheesy.
After a long summer without my yoga classes, I am absolutely as keen as the strongest of English mustards to get back on the mat with you all. I have maintained a home practice as much as possible but it is not the same as commitment to a regular class. My body and mind have degenerated to mild stiffness and inflexibility; I'm just not as bouncy or as happy as when I'm practising regularly. As an ex-school teacher I start September as many people start January, with a programme of intentions for living and feeling better. So here goes:
I must get more organised! Labelling myself as ADHD is helpful to me but it does not mean the world makes exceptions for me or my children. I am going to ORGANISE the hell out of my chaotic life! And if I just can't manage it, it's sweet that I tried, isn't it folks?
I will cook better and eat better. Let's not talk about supermarket pizza.
Booze is not my friend! Anyone else find that their intake creeps up when the children are at home......? Bad news for me and my hormones. Time for a reboot.
I will get this yoga business online and I will stop making excuses. I need to expand my self-worth and my goals apparently.
Continue to not take all of this too seriously (which may continue to undermine the above four intentions but I really hope not this year!! LOL!!)
Maybe you also feel it's time for a change, time to aim a bit higher for YOU. First steps are the way, so dust off those leggings, locate the yoga mat and join me this Thursday. Let's get fit and let's get clear together.
CHANGE OF TIMETABLE
Thursdays 7.30pm-8.30pm at Lepton Methodist Church
Monday and Friday yoga is postponed until further notice. I know, shocking! I'm sorry guys.
This will now be the only session I run each week and I'm really hoping it can work for all my regulars and any new members. If demand goes crazy I will, of course, open up another class.
Those of you who had YOGA360 subs can message me and I will reactivate them. Alternatively you can book a single session online. You can pay cash on the night as long as there are spaces.
I hope the new term begins like a volcano of positive energy for you and your families and whether you feel this way or very far from it, come hold my hand and let's do this.
See you on the mat.
